Questions we get asked
- How do I book a room at Our Old House?
- Send us the dates through the form on this page or message us on WhatsApp. We answer ourselves, usually within a few hours. Booking directly means there is no booking fee and no commission, and we can be flexible about arrival times.
- What are the check-in and check-out times?
- Check-in is between 15:00 and 19:00. Check-out is between 08:00 and 12:00. If your flight or your marshrutka does not fit those hours, tell us — we live here, and we will work around it.
- Is breakfast really included?
- Yes, with every room, and it is not a buffet someone else delivered. Breakfast runs from 8:00 to 11:00 and the khachapuri and the lobiani are baked that morning in our own kitchen. Georgian bread with butter and our own jam, chiji-biji — eggs scrambled with tomato — and tea or coffee for as long as you sit there.
- Can you do vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free?
- Yes for vegan and vegetarian — it is printed on our own menu card: say the word and we will take care of you. Georgian food is one of the easiest cuisines in the world to eat well in without meat, and most of what we cook is already vegetarian. Gluten-free is harder, because nearly everything on the card is bread; tell us before you arrive rather than on the morning and we will work something out.
- Do you take cards?
- Yes — Visa, Mastercard, American Express and most other cards, as well as cash in lari. Worth knowing for the rest of your trip: the estates and restaurants take cards, but family cellars, the market and the marshrutka do not. Carry some cash.
- Is there parking?
- Yes — free private parking on site, no booking needed. There is covered bicycle parking in the courtyard too. Telavi is small enough that the car will mostly sit there.
- Can you store our luggage before check-in or after check-out?
- Yes, free, both. Leave the bags with us in the morning, spend the day at a cellar, and collect them when the driver drops you back. There is someone at the house around the clock.
- Do you speak English?
- English, Georgian, Russian. We answer our own messages in all three, so you are not writing to an agency or a reservations desk.
- Are pets allowed?
- Yes, pets are welcome, though charges may apply. Please tell us in advance so we can put you in the right room. The garden is enclosed.
- Do you have family rooms?
- Three of the four rooms sleep three or more. Gombori, the family suite, has a double bed and a bunk bed in its own nook and is the one families usually take. There is an indoor play area, a shelf of board games, and the garden is enclosed.
- Is the coffee house open to people who are not staying?
- Yes. The kitchen and the coffee are open through the day to anyone who wanders in off Rustaveli, not only to the four rooms. Tea and coffee are 3 lari, khachapuri and lobiani 10, and nothing on the card is dearer than that.
- Is there Wi-Fi?
- Free Wi-Fi throughout the house and in the garden. Georgian mobile data is cheap and fast if you would rather buy a local SIM at the airport.
